Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy is prepared to align with the Apple App Store Review Guidelines (including 5.1.1) and applicable privacy laws. It explains what data the Lulai mobile app and lulai.app website (the “Service”) collect, how that data is collected, how it is used, with whom it may be shared, retention/deletion practices, and how you can revoke consent or request deletion.

1. Scope and Controller

This Policy covers the Lulai iOS app, related web pages, and support channels. Unless stated otherwise, “we” and “Lulai” mean the party providing the Service. For privacy questions and data requests: support@lulai.app.

2. Types of Data We Collect

The Service may collect or process the following data types (not all apply to every user):

  • Contact data: your email address and message content when you email support.
  • Purchase / transaction data: StoreKit status for Free and Pro (one-time App Store in-app purchase), product identifiers, and Apple purchase receipts / restore information. We do not receive your payment card details; Apple processes payments.
  • Device and app data: device model, iOS version, app version, language/region preferences, and crash/diagnostic logs when needed for quality and troubleshooting.
  • Usage / preference data: sound selections, timer, detection sensitivity, and similar settings — primarily stored on your device.
  • Microphone audio (ephemeral processing): when cry detection is enabled, ambient audio may be processed to detect cry-like patterns and trigger soothing sounds.
  • Custom audio: mom’s voice recordings or imported music files under your control, stored on your device.
  • Website technical data: standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, time of visit) may be kept briefly for security and reliability.

3. How Data Is Collected

Data is collected or processed through:

  • Directly from you: support emails, in-app settings, voice recording / file import.
  • From your device: microphone (only with permission and when the feature is used), local storage, App Store / StoreKit purchase status.
  • Automatically: technical logs needed for secure operation of the app or website.
  • Through Apple: in-app purchases and restores via Apple’s infrastructure.

4. Purposes of Use

We use collected or processed data only to:

  • Provide the Service: lullaby playback, cry detection, timers, and Free/Pro functionality.
  • Validate purchase status and restore Pro access (StoreKit).
  • Respond to support requests.
  • Security, fraud prevention, debugging, and service improvement.
  • Comply with legal obligations.
  • Notify you of material policy or service changes when needed.

5. Microphone Permission and Cry Detection

Cry detection requires iOS microphone permission. We describe this purpose clearly in the system permission prompt: processing ambient audio for cry-like patterns and triggering soothing sounds.

Audio processing is performed on-device whenever possible. We do not collect, sell, or upload raw audio recordings for marketing, advertising, or user profiling.

You can revoke microphone access anytime in iOS Settings > Lulai. Declining or revoking permission does not block all core playback features that do not need the microphone. Paid Pro functionality is not conditioned on granting unrelated data access.

6. Custom Recordings and Imported Files

Personal audio you record or import stays on your device and under your control. We do not upload this content to our servers or third parties without your permission. Deleting the content, uninstalling the app, or wiping the device may remove these files.

7. Free / Pro and App Store Purchases

Lulai does not offer subscriptions. Free provides core features; Pro unlocks via a one-time App Store in-app purchase. We do not process payment card data. Billing, taxes, and refunds are handled by Apple under Apple’s terms and privacy practices. We may use Apple-provided transaction information on your device to validate and restore purchases.

8. Consent, Permissions, and Withdrawal

Where we collect user or usage data, we disclose this transparently and obtain consent when required (including iOS system permissions). You may withdraw consent by:

  • Turning off microphone and other permissions in iOS Settings.
  • Disabling related in-app features (for example stopping detection).
  • Emailing support@lulai.app to request access or deletion.
  • Uninstalling the app (which removes local app data).

9. Sharing with Third Parties

We do not sell your personal data. Data may be shared only when needed to provide the Service, meet legal obligations, or protect our rights.

Examples include: Apple (App Store / StoreKit payments and distribution); hosting or email infrastructure providers; competent authorities when legally required.

We confirm that any third party with whom the app shares user data (including analytics tools, advertising networks, third-party SDKs, and related entities—if used) will provide the same or equal protection of user data as stated in this Privacy Policy and required by the Apple App Store Guidelines. If we integrate such third parties, we will update our practices and this Policy accordingly.

10. Retention and Deletion

We retain data only as long as needed for the purposes in this Policy.

  • On-device preferences and custom audio may remain until you delete them or uninstall the app.
  • Support emails may be kept for a reasonable period to resolve requests and maintain records.
  • Technical logs are kept for short periods for security and diagnostics where possible.
  • Deletion requests: email support@lulai.app to request access, correction, or deletion. We may need to verify your identity. Legal retention obligations remain reserved.

11. Security

We apply reasonable technical and administrative measures to protect data against unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure. No method is 100% secure; absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

12. Children and Baby-Related Use

Lulai is designed for parents and caregivers. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

Baby-related audio environments are processed on the parent/caregiver’s device under their control. We do not create accounts for children. If we learn we collected data from a child under 13, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

13. Tracking and Advertising

We do not use Lulai to track users across other apps and websites for advertising under Apple’s definition of “tracking.” We do not seek to perform cross-app tracking with the advertising identifier under App Tracking Transparency. If these practices change, we will update this Policy and App Store privacy labels.

14. Your Rights

Depending on applicable law (such as GDPR-like rules), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing. Contact support@lulai.app. You can also manage microphone access in iOS Settings.

15. International Transfers

Data may be processed in countries where our service providers operate. Where required, we seek appropriate safeguards consistent with applicable law.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will be posted on our website and/or in the app, and the “Last updated” date will change. For material changes we may provide additional notice. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated Policy.
